Cool winter activities for you and your dog
As glistening snowflakes fall, the landscape transforms into a magical setting for you and your dog. Wintry days are filled with catching snow flurries and having a great time together.
A cold spell means a whole new beginning of terrific adventures for the two of you; nature is your playground.
There’s so much you can do to have fun together during the winter months as the seasons change.
Snow Biz
From simple walks and trots, playing in the snow has its perks. Just hanging out together outdoors elevates the spirits.
“Dogs love to play in the snow, so even just chasing each other around in it can be a lot of funand it’s great for both of you!” says Paige Clark, manager of the Pawliday Inn, in Hastings, Nebraska.
“If the snow is deep enough, you can shovel a series of paths to make a maze, and then play hide-and-seek. That’s fun because that’s something that will last as long as there’s snow on the ground.”
And when the two of you play together, you’re doing good for body and mindfor both of you! Using the “buddy system” can get both of you up and moving, which means you’ll both feel happier and healthier.
Love to build snowmen together? You’re on a roll! (And toppling that mound of snow is just as funsimilar to the thrill of jumping through piles of leaves together.) Same goes for making snow angels and romping around in mazes courtesy of those shovel paths. Remember, he was made to play!
And sledding is still an option, observing an appropriate amount of caution, of course! “A lot of small and medium-size dogs love riding on the sled with you,” Clark says. “Just make sure you hold on to him and stick to small hills that aren’t too steep.”
If you both frequent dog parks in warmer weather, why not occasionally spend a dayor even a few hoursat an indoor facility where dogs can explore a new environment. Whether it’s a dog-friendly café or a doggie day spa, there are plenty of ways for the two of you to enjoy some playtime.

It doesn't get very "cool" in Phoenix, AZ, so we pretty much do whatever we can't do in the summer when it's too hot. We go hiking and walking. The dogs get to run around and play outside all the time

My husband & I have two dogs. And they both sleep on the bed with us. One dog sleeps under the blankets. The other dog sleeps on the edge of the bed or sleeps on the bed we got him.

Onyx loves to snuggle at the foot of my bed with her own 'blanky'. She also like to listen to a little Kenny G. before going to bed :) Sometimes, she likes to sleep near my doorway.

Our dogs sleep on our bed. Sometimes they wake us up by barking or squirming around, but we think it is worth it!! They are so cute!
