Sense of Humor
There’s nothing better than a laugh between friends
No one gets your sense of humor better than your best friend, and vice versa. A joke between you and your dog is one that only the two of you can fully understand.
Janie Hensley and her black and white Dachshund, Otis, live together in South Bend, Ind., and give each other reasons to laugh all day long. “My dog definitely has a sense of humor,” Hensley says. “Otis absolutely cracks me up. Instead of standing up to turn around, he sits on his bottom and scoots around to face the other way. We both think it’s pretty silly.”
For this duo, knowing how to cheer the other up makes their friendship that much stronger. “Whenever I’ve had a long day, somehow Otis can sense it,” Hensley says. “He always finds his leash and brings it to me, knowing the only thing that will bring out the best in me right then is one of our walks. I just have to laugh and give in to his charms,” says Hensley.
From Otis’ quirky morning routine to their funny conversations together, this pair just seems to fit. “Otis and I totally get each other,” says Hensley. “We both have a pretty dry sense of humor. He cracks me up!”
Sometimes all you need is a wake up call to get both of your days off to a great start. This is true for Chicago, Ill., resident Derek Sanchez and his Labrador and Golden Retriever mix Sadie, who knows to start the day off with a giggle, by jumping into Sanchez’s bed right on time. “It’s pretty uncanny how on time she is. It’s like clockwork,” Sanchez says. But there’s another thing that Sadie does when she suspects that perhaps she’s been a little too mischievous: She entertains Sanchez to divert his attention—by rolling over, sneaking face licks, and taking a plunge into the pool!
So whether it’s a perfectly timed jolt in the morning or a quirky routine, no one knows how to make you laugh better than your best friend!
