Making Tracks…And Memories Too!

Turning those good times into fun crafts

Every moment with your puppy is something you treasure, but “making” a memory is fun too! Simple projects with your pup will not only bring you closer, but will turn those special moments into lasting keepsakes.

• Scrapbook it. Those little paws seem to grow so fast—why not keep track of them? Chart his growth by creating a print of your puppy’s paw with nontoxic inkpads or non-toxic paint. Let him leave that mark on a scrapbook page containing photos of him. As he grows, add new pages—with fresh paw prints and photos! • Send it. Those paw prints also make a fantastic addition to holiday cards and stationery. Commemorate your first year together by sending out a card personalized with your pup’s very own paw print, and don’t forget to include a photo of the two of you together!
• Stencil it. Of course, getting the perfect paw print every time is difficult to do, so if you need multiple images of the paw, try getting one good paw print image and then make copies of it. The perfect copies can be traced onto stiff cardboard or thin plastic, and then turned into a stencil. Your pup will be able to add his “stamp” of approval on everything from greeting cards to coffee mugs with this flexible, durable stencil.
• Step on it. For something that is even more permanent, a stepping-stone for your garden makes the perfect addition, and it’s a lot of fun to make together. Either let your pup step lightly into the mixture, or use his stencil to make the mark. Look for kits at your local craft store, and use bone-shaped cookie cutters or colored stones to add personal touches and accents.
