Seattle, WA: Dog Friendly Places

by Kristy Alpert

Seattle, Washington, has many attractions that embrace you and your dog, from handfuls of dog-welcoming coffeehouses to seaplane tours. Nicknamed the Emerald City because of the lush forests and more than 6,000 acres of green space within the city, Seattle truly is a gem in the Northwest. Here are five spots you and your dog can explore:

Alexis Hotel
Alexis Hotel is within walking distance to historic Pioneer Square. Your dog will receive a complimentary doggie bed, water bowl, and pet treat upon check-in, and you will both enjoy sleeping in a quintessential Seattle hotel.

Caffé Vita Coffee Roasting Co.
Though a stop at the original Starbucks may pique your interest, locally owned Caffé Vita Coffee Roasting Co. offers hand-roasted coffee and welcomes your dog indoors on a leash to enjoy the café atmosphere.

Kenmore Air Seaplanes
Whether you and your dog want a 20-minute aerial tour of Seattle or you want to get away for the day, Kenmore Air Seaplanes will get you there … together! Your small dog can ride on your lap for free and dogs weighing more than 24 lbs. will be buckled up in a seat next to you for $75.

Kerry Park
Although this isn’t one of the 11 off-leash parks the city offers, Kerry Park has one of the best views in the city for you and your leashed dog to enjoy. Gaze at the monumental statues or look a bit farther to see the iconic Space Needle.

Barking Dog Alehouse
Not only can you and your dog sit together on the patio of Barking Dog Alehouse (and inside together when it’s not busy), but this spot hosts some of the Northwest’s best beer varieties along with great food like the Barking Dog sandwich.
